CIT Program

WWS – Counselor in Training Program

The Counselors in Training program or CITs program offers the opportunity for your child to work as part of a team, under the direct supervision of the camp staff. CITs are afforded the chance to gain on-the-job training, while learning the value of proper supervision of and interaction with children.

As a CIT, your child will be placed in a structured program that blends counselor duties and camper activities. The goal is to provide quality training for adolescents who have serious interest in working with children, while still benefiting from the fun and exciting activities that Wide World of Summer has to offer.

Each week, CITs will be afforded the opportunity to work directly with younger campers and assist camp staff, as well as, participating in field trips, athletic events, artistic programs, and many other activities. Additionally, CITs will take part in team-building and debriefing exercises with their Group Leader and other senior staff, so that they can discuss their experiences and address any questions or concerns.

There are two CIT programs:

  • First Year CITs – Students entering 9th grade in September 2019 – tuition is calculated at ½ of the standard fee.
  • Second Year CITs – Students entering 10th grade in September 2019 – Volunteer position, tuition is free, and hours can count towards volunteer/community service hours.

Space is limited in both programs and priority is given to WWS alumni.

To apply to be considered for the CITs program, please visit the Parsippany-Troy Hills School District Employment Page and complete the online application. Interested candidates will be interviewed and enrollment is on a rolling basis until all spaces are filled.
