Dr. Robert Sutter

Growing up, Dr. Sutter was very familiar with Parsippany-Troy Hills Township because he was raised in the neighboring town of Boonton. While living in Boonton, Dr. Sutter attended School Street School, John Hill School, and graduated from Boonton High School. While in high school, Dr. Sutter was employed as summer help with the Roofers Local #4 located on Parsippany Road in Parsippany.

After graduating from Boonton High School, Dr. Sutter attended Kutztown University in Kutztown, Pennsylvania where he studied elementary education and played football before suffering a career-ending knee injury.

After graduating from Kutztown University, Dr. Sutter returned to the Roofer’s Local #4 while searching for an elementary teaching position. Dr. Sutter secured an elementary teaching position with the Paterson Public School System.

While taking courses at Kean University, Dr. Sutter secured a health and physical education certificate and moved on from the Paterson Public School System to teach Health and Physical Education and coach football and lacrosse at his alma mater Boonton High School.

Seeking an administrative job, Dr. Sutter moved on to the Dover Public Schools and continued teaching and coaching while earning valuable administrative experience in Dover. However, when administrative positions opened in the Boonton Public Schools, Dr. Sutter was selected as the Assistant Principal of Boonton High School.

Dr. Sutter was soon promoted to Principal of School Street School where he served with great pride. “There is nothing like being the principal of the elementary school you attended as a child.” Dr. Sutter was later transferred to the principalship at the John Hill School in Boonton to lead a multi-million dollar building referendum project.

Dr. Sutter completed his master’s degree in administration and Supervision at Liberty University and completed his doctorate in Educational Leadership from Regent University. Dr. Sutter took the next step in his administrative career by securing a Chief School Administrator’s position with the Lebanon Borough School District in Hunterdon County. After gaining valuable CSA experience in Lebanon Borough, Dr. Sutter applied for and was offered the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources position with the Parsippany-Troy Hills Township School District.

Dr. Sutter has enjoyed his time as the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources with the Parsippany-Troy Hills Township School District (PTHSD). Dr. Sutter has formed meaningful relationships with staff and community members and is extremely grateful to the PTHSD for providing him with the opportunity to serve as the Assistant Superintendent of HR for the past seven years.

Dr. Sutter has gained valuable experience in the PTHSD, and has learned a great deal about the community and school district. Dr. Sutter feels he is well-equipped to continue the rich history of success found in the PTHSD. Moreover, Dr. Sutter is very excited and honored to begin his new position.

On a personal note, Dr. Sutter has been married to his wife Sharon for 23 years. (Interesting note-Dr. Sutter has known his wife Sharon since third grade, where they met playing backyard football.) Dr. Sutter and his wife Sharon have four beautiful daughters, Savannah, Sydney, Shea, and Summer. Dr. Sutter is very proud of the life he has created with his wife Sharon.

In closing, Dr. Sutter is a great admirer of Coach Vince Lombardi. As such, Dr. Sutter has tried to model his life after Coach Lombardi’s quote found below.

“Watch your beliefs, they become your words. Watch your words, they become your actions. Watch your actions, they become your habits. Watch your habits, they become your character.”
