3rd Grade Science

Autumn is in the air and third grade is buzzing with fall fun.  Students have been enjoying learning about water and the weather.  Our third graders examined water drops and how they move.  We also learned about water and the way it interacts with the natural world.  Students went on a nature hunt and brought in leaves, rocks and flowers to examine the way water would react with different types of natural materials.  We found out that some materials absorb water and others repel it.  Students are excited to learn about the water cycle and climate as we continue our science explorations.

This fall we began learning math with a whole new math series.  We are getting used to Envision.  Students continue to work in small groups and enjoy guided math stations.  Third graders have been studying multiplication by learning about how multiplication and division are related to addition and subtraction.  We are also learning how to use the properties of multiplication to help solve problems.  The distributive property helps us break apart our factors to solve the problems.  It is important for students to keep practicing their math facts and skills with Reflex Math and Practice Buddy.
